Attestation for the EHR Incentive Program is a daunting task which will require preparation. Due to delays in release of the McKesson Practice Partner CCHIT certified version for Meaningful Use (Version 9.5.1), the time line for attestation is now more compressed for all clinicians (A.K.A. elgible professionals or their designated agents). To help you prepare for attestation, I have a link (below) which will allow you to download a replica of the CMS attestation home page. Why a PDF? This will allow you to forward it to others (colleagues, administrators, etc). The weblinks in this PDF document are fully functional and link to many things such as:
- Attestation User Guide for Eligible Hospitals
- Attestation User Guide for Medicare Eligible Professionals
- Meaningful Use Attestation Calculator (version 1)
- Attestation Worksheet for Eligible Professionals
- Attestation Worksheet for Eligible Hospitals and CAH
- Electronic Specifications for Clinical Quality Measures (CQM)
Plus other links to the EHR Incentive Programs and other pertinent CMS sites.
Also included in the document are details on answers to such things as your EHR certification number, "what I can do now for attestation", third party designation, how/when payment is done (my favorite!) and brief details on how CMS may condut an audit (my least favorite!).
As has been mentioned in other venues, even though you may not have TPP 9.5.1 fully installed (or the Medisoft or Lytec EHR version), if you are developing your office processes to help get the measures recorded and reading the McKesson Practice Partner Manuals on meaningful use (EHR Meaningful Use Guide), you will be more prepared if you plan to do your attestation for this calendar year (2011).
The links to the guides, worksheets and the calculator on the CMS site (in the downloadable document below), will allow you to "sprint to and through attestation" later this year.
Good luck and Godspeed!
